Volunteer firefighters were called to the Shallowater Coop Gin at the intersection of FM 2130 and FM 1294 Friday afternoon. Cotton burrs had caught on fire.
There were enough burrs to fill 20 trucks. Volunteers from Levelland, West Carlisle, Shallowater, and Smyer were on scene according to a photojournalist.
There were no reports of injuries.
An official on scene said the fire started in a seed house. The burrs that were not burning were separated to help contain the fire.
