Frenship ISD’s Cindi Cobb recently received a new job title as she has been named the new assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction after serving as the executive director of the same department for the past two years.
FISD Superintendent Dr. Michelle McCord, Ed.D made the announcement during the district’s monthly Board of Trustees meeting Monday night.
Cobb, a West Texas native from Lamesa, has worked with Frenship ISD for the past 11 years and in education for 17 years.
She has served in different capacities during her career, including a classroom teacher, coach, instructional specialist, assessment coordinator, director of curriculum, and her most recent title as executive director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Tech University, Cobb also serves as the president for the Texas Council of Women School Executives and on the Red Cross Board of Directors. She was recognized by the Young Professionals of Lubbock as a 20 Under 40 award recipient in 2015.
When Cobb began her tenure at Frenship ISD, she said it felt like home.
“This is a district that cares about its staff and students and has high expectations,” she said. “I am honored to serve this community and to be a part of the Frenship family.”
McCord said Cobb is a capable, determined and skilled educator who has a heart for service.
“Over the past several years, I have observed Cindi develop into a respected, collaborative and thoughtful leader,” she said. “I am confident that Cindi will be extremely effective in this new role. I am certain the students and teachers whom we serve will continue to flourish and accomplish great things with Cindi leading the department of Curriculum and Instruction.”
Cobb, her husband Derek, and their two sons, Gage (13) and Zane (11), are all a part of the Frenship family as Derek is Frenship’s director of facilities and their sons both attend Heritage Middle School.
