The following is a news release from TxDOT:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is in the final planning stages on a project that will make bridge improvements to FM 651 and FM 3519 in Garza County. The estimated $2.7 million project is tentatively scheduled to accept construction contractor bids in January 2018.
Improvements to FM 651, at the north fork of the Double Mountain Fork Brazos River bridge, will include milling the roadway and bridge mainlanes and then resurfacing the roadway with asphalt hotmix and the bridge with a multi-layer polymer overlay, bridge repairs and upgrades to the metal beam guard fence. Work on the bridge is projected to begin during the 2018 spring months.
Planned work for the FM 3519 bridge at Gobbler Creek will include a concrete mill and inlay on the bridge, replacement of bridge rails, bridge repair, upgrades to the metal beam guard fence and resurfacing the roadway with asphalt hotmix. Work at this bridge is estimated to begin in late-2018.
Construction at both locations will require traffic to be reduced to one lane-during both the daytime and nighttime hours-with traffic guided through the work zone by temporary traffic signals. FM 651 will remain in the one-lane traffic pattern throughout construction. Once work on the FM 3519 bridge is completed and work begins on the roadway, lane closures will be limited to daytime hours only.
Drivers should take note that the maximum lane widths for both bridges during construction will be 11 feet wide.
