Three officials associated with the parent company of Jaguars on Thursday filed a response in court records after the company was sued in Lubbock.

The company itself responded in late July.

Two women sued in May claiming they were not paid for performing as dancers in the strip club.  The women claimed they were inappropriately designated as independent contractors and therefore inappropriately denied minimum wage and overtime pay.

The three officials with Jaguars wrote in court records, “Defendants admit that Jaguars Lubbock did not provide compensation to the dancers but deny that they received compensation solely in the form of ‘tips.’”

Court records also said, “Defendants admit that Jaguars Lubbock did not provide compensation to the dancers but deny that this violates the Fair Labor Standards Act.”

The three company officials said in court records “The law speaks for itself.”

They also said, “Defendants admit that Jaguars Lubbock is a restaurant and bar but deny that Jaguars Lubbock provides adult entertainment to patrons.”

The website for Jaguars Lubbock uses the words “all nude” in bold letters on the home page.

The three company officials denied that the dancers are employees and they asked that a federal judge rule against the dancers.
