Devante Deshawn Manahan, 25, was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child on Wednesday by a jury. Court records said he sexually assaulted a boy under the age of six in January of 2017.
A police report said police were called to a local emergency room. Family members took the boy to a hospital after they suspected the boy was abused.
At trial, the defense attorney argued that, yes, Manahan was indecent with a child, but it was not a case of aggravated sexual assault. The jury believed it was indeed aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The same jury that found Manahan guilty then decided his punishment Wednesday as 50 years in prison.
