LUBBOCK, Texas — The forecast in Lubbock for Wednesday is not quite as bad March 13, but there will be some similarities.
The forecast called for southwest winds in the afternoon between 35 and 45 miles per hour in Lubbock.
“Winds could gust as high as 65 mph,” the National Weather Service.
The Storm Prediction Center issued a map showing portions of the South Plains in “extremely critical” fire danger on Wednesday. Lubbock was shown to be in critical fire danger on that same map.
An LBK Alert said the following:
The National Weather Service is forecasting high sustained winds and an elevated fire threat for today April 10th from 10:00 am-10:00 pm. Lubbock Fire Rescue is asking the citizens of Lubbock to use caution. Please refrain from all outside fires and properly discard smoking materials. During this time LFR is increasing staffing and response levels as a precaution. Remember a small fire in these conditions can quickly become large so please do your best to help your fellow citizens and Lubbock Fire Rescue by using extreme caution.
