The Hispanic Association of Women (HAW), a local non-profit organization, will hold their annual Membership Drive event at The Courtyard by Marriott on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to enjoy a delicious taco bar and learn more about why and how to become a member of the association. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and hold expertise in a multitude of fields. The Courtyard by Marriott is located at 308 Avenue V in Lubbock.

More About the Organization
Since 1983, the mission of the Hispanic Association of Women is organizing the efforts of Hispanic women by promoting education, defining issues of concern, forming coalitions, resolving problems, developing leadership skills, and empowering women and youth. The current Board of Directors includes Sylvia Juarez as President, Sandi Turner as President-Elect, Esther Pena as past President, Karla Vargas as Vice President, Elma Moreno as Secretary, Britni Herrera as Treasurer, Margie Olivarez as Historian, and Ruby Gonzales as Parliamentarian.

Each year, HAW raises thousands of dollars with a Gala event for promising young women pursuing their education. In 2017, HAW raised $48,000 in scholarships.
