Mae Simmons Community Center will be hosting a two two-part Homeownership and Financial Literacy Workshops in April. The first session will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, April 9 and 11, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The second session will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, April 23 and 25, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In these workshops sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and City Bank Lubbock, individuals and families will learn how to prepare their finances to achieve the goal of homeownership. Free childcare will be available for youth out of diapers. Admission is free. Call 767-2708 to register for the workshop and to sign up for childcare.
Mae Simmons Community and Adult Activity Centers are located at 2004 Oak Avenue. Summer hours for the Community Center are Monday-Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hours for the Adult Activity Center are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, call 767-2700 (community) or 767-2708 (adult activity).
