The following is a press release from Covenant Health:
Covenant Health’s Hospice of Lubbock board of directors recently named Dr. Jeremy L. Brown as its new executive director. The selection was made following the sudden and untimely death in May of Charley Wasson, who led the organization for eight years.
Brown has served as medical director both for Hospice of Lubbock for almost seven years and for Covenant Medical Center’s palliative medicine department for more than a year. He will continue to serve in those roles in addition to assuming the responsibilities of executive director.
“We are so pleased that Dr. Brown has been selected as the executive director for Hospice of Lubbock,” said LaLani Carter, Hospice of Lubbock board chairperson. “We have every confidence that he will continue the great work for which Hospice of Lubbock has always been known. Dr. Brown brings a new, medical perspective, which we believe can only enhance our future. We know that it may be challenging, but we also know that Dr. Brown fully understands the mission of Hospice of Lubbock.”
Brown has been with Covenant Health since September 2009.
“I’m not going to try to fill Charley’s shoes, because I can’t,” Brown said. “What I am going to do is stand in the gap and pour my heart and soul into the amazing staff and patients at Hospice of Lubbock. Just like Charley did, I will work every day to make sure we are the very best we can be and that we continue to provide dignity and relief from suffering during the most vulnerable of times.
“I believe we have been called to this work and I am humbled and blessed to have this opportunity,” Brown said.
