Volunteer fire departments from Ransom Canyon, Buffalo, Slaton and Roosevelt responded to the report of a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Ransom Canyon.
Later, Idalou VFD was also asked to help.
The house was located on Sunrise Lane and images from a viewer showed it to be fully engulfed in flames. Neighbors said everyone was out of the house. There was a dog inside but it was rescued, according to the neighbors.
The fire traveled down the hill behind the house which in turn threatened other homes.
Lubbock was under a Red Flag Warning (a fire weather watch) at the time that the fire started which was approximately 2:15 p.m. Winds were reported between 15 to 30 miles per hour with higher gusts.
The home was listed by Lubbock CAD as having a taxable value of just less than $1.5 million. So far there has been no word on possible injuries.
