The Terry County Sheriff’s Department said Kurt Blankenship, 56, of Brownfield was arrested for murder. He was accused of shooting his wife, Lisa Blankenship, 58, “one time.” She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We don’t know what precipitated the argument, the violence how it started. He has talked to officers but he didn’t make any indications as to why,” said Larry Gilbreath, Terry County Sheriff.
Sheriff Larry Gilbreath said Blankenship called 911 at about 6:00 p.m. Sunday before she died.
“She called her son and the call wound up going to 911, to Post, on their cell phones and post called us,” said Gilbreath.
Officers responded to a residence in the 2700 block of County Road 260 which is east of Meadow. Gilbreath said officers arrested Kurt Blankenship at the scene without incident.
Blankenship’s booking sheet said he was booked at 1:34 a.m. Monday. An autopsy was still pending as of late Monday morning. His bond is set at one million dollars.
