The following is a news release from Starcare Specialty Health System:

Lubbock County VOICES/Keep Teens Alive Youth Coalition and Starcare Specialty Health System are hosting a Winter Wonderland event to educate their fellow peers about staying drug-free during the holiday season. This will be the 1st Annual Winter Wonderland event for Keep Teens Alive Youth Coalition. The Winter Wonderland event will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 7pm-11 p.m. at Alliance Church located at 5825 34th St.

The Winter Wonderland event will be open to all middle to high school age youth. We invite all Lubbock county youth to come out and enjoy games, door prizes, movie and a short alcohol prevention presentation by Keep Teens Alive members. Refreshments will be provided. This event is free!

“We want to encourage parents/guardians to bring their youth out to this event, so that they can have fun, but also learn from other youth how much fun it is to be drug-free.” says Teresa Alvarado, Community Coalition Program Director, “Alcohol continues to be the number one drug of choice among youth, because it is easily accessible. Education, prevention and access to life saving measures will help curb this underage drinking epidemic.”

The Lubbock County VOICES & Keep Teens Alive youth coalition continues to be actively involved in our community to encourage community collaboration in order to prevent drug use and abuse among youth.
