LCS Welcomes Same Kind of Different as Me Best Selling Author Ron Hall

The following is a news release from Lubbock Christian School:

Lubbock Christian School is pleased to announce that Ron HallThe New York Times best-selling author of book (and now movie) Same Kind of Different as Me, has graciously accepted our invitation to speak at our annual fundraiser event.  We are thrilled to have him as our honored guest and look forward to a fun-filled evening.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 24 at the Texas Tech Frazier Alumni Pavilion.  Sponsorships and individual tickets for the event are available by contacting the Lubbock Christian School Development Office at 806-796-8700.

Ron Hall was a successful international art dealer, enjoying the good life, until 1998 when he encountered Denver Moore, a homeless man who was threatening to kill everyone in a Fort Worth, Texas shelter where Ron and his wife volunteered.

In 2000, Denver moved in with Ron and lived with him for the next ten years. This life-changing encounter inspired Ron to write his first book Same Kind of Different as Me which quickly became a New York Times platinum best-seller.

The full title of the best-seller Same Kind of Different as Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together says it all. Hall’s co-author, Denver Moore, was the modern-day slave, a homeless ex-con before being introduced to Hall and his wife through a series of events that Hall considers divinely guided.

And now, Hollywood has picked up the story.

A movie version based on Ron’s book of the same name was released in October 2017 by Pure Flix Entertainment. The film stars Greg Kinnear, Renee Zellweger, Djimon Hounson and Jon Voight.
