LUBBOCK, Texas(PRESS RELEASE) — Lubbock Christian University announced Wednesday that President Tim Perrin has accepted a senior leadership position at Pepperdine University in California. Perrin is completing his seventh year as LCU’s sixth President and will be returning to Pepperdine where he previously spent twenty years in faculty and administrative roles.

At Pepperdine, Perrin will serve as a Senior Vice President working closely with the incoming president Jim Gash. He will officially take on his new role in August.

LCU has enjoyed significant momentum during Perrin’s tenure. The university launched the 2020 Vision Campaign, the largest in LCU’s history, and it has raised $70 million to date in gifts and pledges, exceeding the victory goal of $60 million. The success of the campaign has led to the addition of more than 100,000 square feet of academic space to the campus, including the Margaret Talkington Center for Nursing Education, the James and Jeanette Ling Science Center, and the Christa Dobbs Center for Business. The university’s permanent endowment has more than doubled since 2012, providing enhanced support for student scholarships.

“We have been so very blessed to have Tim and Lucy Perrin as our president and first lady for these past seven years,” Terry Creech, Chair of the LCU Board of Trustees commented. “The board of trustees gives thanks for the way God has worked in and through the faculty, staff, and students of the university to accomplish initiatives of great significance. We are experiencing great momentum at the university, and Tim Perrin has a talented, seasoned team in place that is very capable of keeping the momentum going as we search for the next individual God has in mind to lead LCU.”

During Perrin’s tenure, the university has expanded student offerings including the launch of a new study abroad program in Avila, Spain, and has strengthened academic programs through the development of several academic centers and institutes, including the Rhodes Institute for Undergraduate Research, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship, the Center for Faith and Business, and Mission Link: the Center for Global Engagement, among others.

President Tim Perrin commented: “It has been the thrill of a lifetime to serve my alma mater as president for the last seven years. Lucy and I have been privileged to have a front-row seat to see God at work here in and through our outstanding board of trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends. As we look to LCU’s next chapter, we do so with confidence that the university’s best days are still ahead!”

Perrin was a student-athlete at LCU, and he presided over a period of growth for the LCU Athletics program. The university transitioned from the NAIA into NCAA Division II, added indoor and outdoor track and competitive cheer, and continued its tradition of success on and off the court. Among the numerous post-season appearances made by the LCU men’s and women’s teams, the Lady Chap Basketball team won two NCAA Division II National Championships (the 15th and 16th in LCU’s athletic history), including the 2019 championship in a double overtime thriller earlier this month.

The LCU Board of Trustees will meet the first week in May and will share additional information about the presidential search following the board’s meeting.
