Levelland driver OK, other driver killed in crash near Stinnett

A Levelland man was treated and released on the scene of a deadly crash near Stinnett. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Edward Castellano, 44, of Levelland was driving a pickup truck along State Highway 136 when another driver failed to yield the right of way.


The DPS released the following statement:

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a two-vehicle crash Wednesday on SH-136 in Hutchinson County, resulting in the death of one person.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., Edward Castellano, 44, of Levelland was driving a 2012 Ford F-250 north on SH-136 approximately two miles south of Stinnett. Inez Nolen, 72, of Borger,  was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Sara Drive and SH-136. Nolen failed to yield right of way and pulled out onto SH-136 into the path of Castellano. When the vehicles collided, Nolen was ejected from her SUV.

Nolen was transported to the hospital in Borger where she later died.

Castellano was treated and released on scene.

Castellano was wearing his seat belt. Nolen was not wearing her seat belt.

The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
