Levelland Hires Garcia to be New Police Chief

The City of Levelland announced on Friday that Albert Garcia was hired to become the next police chief of the Levelland Police Department.  According to KLVT radio, Garcia will become Chief of Police effective on June 26.

Levelland City Manager Rick Osburn was quoted by KLVT as saying, “We are excited to have Chief Garcia join our team.”

Osburn was also quoted as saying, “We had a pool of about three dozen applicants to review and evaluate, it wasn’t an easy decision.”

Garcia is currently the Chief of Police in Littlefield.  Previously he served as chief in Idalou.  He graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 2009.

He previously worked as a Levelland Police Officer for less than 10 years.

His Facebook page listed him as a native of Meadow.

Garcia replaces Tony Cowan who retired as chief in late April.
