Levelland Police confirm that students and faculty were evacuated from the Levelland Intermediate School Wednesday afternoon. No device was found, and the school was given the all-clear.
Levellandnews.net reported the evacuation took place “after a note was found inside the building indicating a bomb was going to go off.”
Police confirmed that a note was found in a bathroom saying a bomb would go off at 3 p.m.
The Levelland Police Department set up a command post at Lobo Lake. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was asked to assist.
Staff and students were sent to the administration building, which is about a block away from the school, Levelland Police said.
Parents can pick up their kids at the administration building.
EverythingLubbock.com confirmed that school staffers were notified at 2:50 pm.
At this time there have been no reports of injuries.
UPDATE: The Hockley County Sheriff’s Office provided the following update on Facebook (LISD in this case means Levelland ISD):
HCSO personnel are on scene with Levelland PD, Fire, Emergency Management, and EMS at Levelland Intermediate due to the bomb threat. All children, faculty, and staff are out of the building and SAFE.
All parents who are picking up kids need to pick them up at the Central Office via Avenue H and 11th Street. Do not go to the campus.
Personnel are assisting LISD.
LISD has notified parents via Skyward.
