LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Fire Rescue on Thursday said a woman was found dead in a home on Wednesday afternoon.
LFR and Lubbock Police responded to a home in the 2800 block of 63rd Street because neighbors had not seen the resident in a few days. The windows were black and LFR saw signs that there had been a fire inside the house.
An official statement said, “Lubbock Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause of the fire which is still under investigation.”
EverythingLubbock.com has learned the woman was in her early 70’s. The name of the woman was not yet released.
Lubbock Fire Rescue said:
Lubbock Fire Rescue along with Lubbock Police Department responded to 2820 63rd yesterday at approximately 2:00 pm for a check welfare. Neighbors stated they had not seen the resident for a few days and noticed the windows on the house were black. Upon arrival crews forced entry into the house and found a deceased female along with evidence of a fire that was out on arrival. Lubbock Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause of the fire which is still under investigation. The Lubbock County Medical Examiners office is currently investigating the cause of death. We will update as more information becomes available.
