The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees named Stacy Carter as the new director of school safety and security at their meeting this morning.
Carter has been an educator since 2005, when she began her education career as a teacher at Tubbs Elementary School. She is currently the principal at Wheelock Elementary School, but over the years she has held the roles of teacher, coach and assistant principal within and outside of Lubbock ISD.
Prior to beginning her career in education, Carter served in the United States Marine Corps from 1998-2001. She commanded the Fourth Squad during combat training and was responsible for their safety and security during all training maneuvers. After completing basic, combat and military occupational specialty training, she served as a fixed-wing aircraft mechanic as part of a training squadron in San Diego.
Carter earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and a master’s degree in elementary education from Texas Tech University. She also earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lubbock Christian University.
