The Littlefield Police Department said racing on U.S. Highway 84 led to a multi-vehicle accident with injuries and the arrest of two people Tuesday.
Numerous witnesses reported seeing a motorcycle and black Mercedes Benz traveling down U.S. Highway 84 in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to a Littlefield PD news release.
The driver of the motorcycle, Frank Espinoza, 60, lost control of his vehicle and struck a jeep traveling along the road. The impact ejected Espinoza from the motorcycle and sent the jeep into a rollover, according to the release.
Espinoza suffered a broken leg from the crash. The jeep was occupied by a couple from Abilene, who were uninjured. Names of the couple were not released in the report.
Espinoza was arrested and transported to UMC hospital and then released to their custody pending charges. Franklin Rusk, 26, the driver of the Mercedes, was later arrested and booked into Lamb County Jail.
The Abilene couple were provided with lodging at a local motel.
