First Christian Church in Lubbock will celebrate Maundy Thursday and a “living” Last Supper on March 29 at 6:00 pm. The public is invited and the event is free.
Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. The word Maundy comes to English from Old French. It is a variation of the word mandatum (command) from a translation of the Bible called the Vulgate.
The maundy, or command, comes from the book of John in chapter 13 where Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
