The following is a press release from the Lubbock Police Department: 

LUBBOCK, Texas (PRESS RELEASE — )Crash investigators with the Lubbock Police Department are investigating a Thursday night fatal crash in the 3100 block of Marsha Sharp Freeway.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 9th, officers responded to the area for a rollover involving a car. Based on the initial investigation, it appears the car was traveling eastbound on the Marsha Sharp Freeway when the driver lost control and traveled into the grassy median between the freeway and access road.

The car rolled and came to a rest in the median. The two occupants, 30-year-old Tommy Cisneros and 15-year-old Juan Soto, were ejected from the car.

Both were taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Soto was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Cisneros remains in the hospital in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by LPD crash investigators.
