LUBBOCK, Texas (PRESS RELEASE) — The following is a press release from the Lubbock Police Department:
The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in solving the murder of 37-year-old Cassie Oden. A $5,000 Crime Line reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
On June 2nd at approximately 11:55p.m., Lubbock police officers responded to a report of an injured female in the 2700 block of East 2nd Street. Officers located Oden with life threatening injuries inside a vehicle parked at a residence. She was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after midnight.
Officers were able to determine Oden was involved in a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of MLK Boulevard. Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit investigators arrived on scene to immediately begin an investigation.
Through the initial investigation it was determined a suspect fired multiple shots at the vehicle occupied by Oden and three others. Oden and one of the passengers fled the area and drove to the 2700 block of E. 2nd to call for help. The other two passengers including 24-year-old Preston Beadman, got out of the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Beadman was then taken by a private vehicle to the hospital for a gunshot wound.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward up to $5,000.
