Lubbock Police released new information Wednesday morning concerning an overnight shooting.  Police said officers responded to the 2500 block of Bates Street just after midnight.  

Police said Rene Pena, 40, was shot in his right shoulder.  Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

“Through investigation, officers were able to determine the shooting took place at 2408 Colgate Avenue,” police said.

Police said Pena was in a verbal dispute with several people at the address on Colgate.  

“Pena then got back in his vehicle, when an unknown suspect approached the vehicle and shot Pena one time,” police said. “Pena then drove his vehicle to the 2500 block of Bates where he called 9-1-1.”

Police did not yet provide information about a suspect.
