The following is a news release from the Lubbock Police Department:

Samuel York Jr., 28, is now in custody and charged with aggravated assault in connection to the November 11th shooting at the Hitching Post located at 1902 East Broadway.

Members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force – Team Foxtrot arrested York this morning in the 1600 block of 32nd Street.

Just before 4 a.m. on November 11th,  Lubbock Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Hitching Post but were unable to locate any victims. Officers were later notified that a 28-year-old female with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the hospital by a private vehicle.

Based on the preliminary investigation, there was a fight outside of the business and a suspect fired multiple shots. The female victim was in the parking lot at the time of the fight and was struck by one of the bullets.

Through the investigation, Lubbock Police Department detectives were able to identify the suspect as 28-year-old Samuel York Jr. and an arrest warrant was issued on November 28th. With the help of the U.S. Marshals, York is now in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
