The following is a press release from the Lubbock Police Department.

Crash investigators with the Lubbock Police Department are investigating a fatal crash early Friday morning in the area of North Slide Road and Clovis Road.

At approximately 3 a.m., the Lubbock Police Department was notified of the crash involving a semi-truck pulling two trailers and a car. The two male occupants of the car were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck had minor injuries and was later taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

Due to the semi-truck transporting hazardous materials, the Lubbock Fire Rescue Hazmat Team arrived on scene to assess the semi-truck and trailers. Old Dominion Freight Line, the owner of the semi, had a hazmat cleanup company come to the scene to clean up a small spill and remove the hazardous material from the scene.

At this time, LPD crash investigators are working on positively identifying the two deceased males to contact family. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Other agencies such as Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality also responded to assist.
