The following is a news release from the Lubbock Police Department:
Malachi Peppers, 17, is now charged with aggravated assault in connection to the June 5th drive-by shooting at 37th Street and Avenue U that injured a 16-year-old female.
Through the investigation, Peppers was identified as a suspect. Today, detectives secured an aggravated assault arrest warrant that was served at the Lubbock County Detention Center where Peppers has been since June 7th for unrelated charges.
This marks the third arrest in connection to the drive-by shooting. On June 7, 18-year-old Deangiilo Hill and 17-year-old Treveon Tyler were arrested for aggravated assault.
This case remains under investigation by the Lubbock Police Department Persons Crimes Unit.
