The following is a news release from Lubbock Christian University:
Lubbock Christian University is set to host Alumni from the past sixty years this weekend, February 7-10.
This year’s festivities will highlight more than forty-affinity groups, showing the tremendous amount of student involvement LCU has to this day.
“We always look forward to welcoming members of our LCU family back to campus for homecoming. This year is no exception. As our campus continues to change and grow and our students excel in undergraduate research and athletics, it is the perfect time to reconnect with other Chaps and recommit to the LCU experience,” said Sheila Dye, vice president of alumni relations.
Another very important celebration is a benefit dinner scheduled for Saturday evening to honor LCU’s Legends of Music. Two beloved choir directors served the university for decades, working side by side and touring with their respective choirs regionally, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Wayne Hinds directed the Acappella Chorus from 1957 until his retirement in 1997, and Charles Cox directed the Meistersinger Chorus from 1961 until his retirement in 1995. This dinner is to honor their memory and to unveil exciting plans for the facilities that are home to the LCU Music Department.
