Lubbock Congressman Introduces Congressional Term Limits Bill

Congressman Jodey Arrington of Lubbock co-introduced legislation for Congressional term limits.

Arrington, a Republican, teamed up with Democrat Ro Khanna of California to jointly introduce a bill on Thursday.

It was described as the first bipartisan term limits legislation in the 115th Congress.

“The legislation would limit members of the U.S. House of Representatives to serving six two-year terms and members of the U.S. Senate to serving two six-year terms,” a written statement from Arrington’s office said.

A partial term after a special election or an appointment would not count toward the term limits.

“Congress has a lower turnover rate than European monarchies, with 97 percent of Representatives and 93 percent of Senators winning re-election,” the statement said.
