Oscar Longoria, 22, was found guilty of manslaughter by a Lubbock County jury Monday.
Lubbock Police said Longoria was driving a vehicle when it struck a light pole in the 5700 block of Erskine Street back in February 2013.
The impact with the light pole caused the vehicle to split in half.
Both passengers inside the vehicle were ejected.
The victims were identified as Sebastian Jackson and Anthony Flores, both 19.
The passengers were transported to University Medical with life-threatening injuries.
Lubbock Police said Flores later died from his injuries.
Longoria was also transported to UMC with minor injuries and was later released.
Authorities believed Longoria may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
He was arrested by Lubbock Police in April 2013 and charged with second-degree manslaughter.
A mistrial was declared at his first trial in April 2017.
At his second trial on Monday, the defense told the court there was second vehicle that cause the crashed.
Investigators said they did not find evidence of a second vehicle involved in the crash.
