This year marks the centennial anniversary of Texas license plates.

Ronnie Keister, Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector, is hosting an event on June 30, 2017 to celebrate this historic occasion. Mr. Robbie Crowder, local license plate enthusiast and collector, is setting up a display of part of his extensive license plate collection at the County Tax Assessor-Collector building at 916 Main Street. The plate display will be located in the old Bank of America lobby located directly north of the County Courthouse.

Mr. Crowder’s display will include license plates from 1917 through those of today. Of special interest will be some plates that were used by former Governor Preston Smith. The display will be open for viewing at 9:00 a.m. on June 30, 2017. In addition to the display of license plates, a display of vintage and interesting vehicles will staged in the parking lot located at the east side of our building.

At 11:30 a.m. Ronnie Keister will introduce special guests including Senator Charles Perry, State Representative John Frullo, State Representative Dustin Burrows, and former Texas Transportation Commissioner Fred Underwood for remarks and grand opening of the display.
