UPDATE: Lubbock Fire and Rescue released the following statement

“Update on the fire at 1102 E 76th.  Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to an initial 911 call for a grass fire with three units (two engines and one foam unit).  Upon arrival crews asked for a full structure fire response be initiated due to the close proximity of the fire to several small structures and two houses.  This brought the total number of responding units to twelve.  The fire was brought under control and contained a short time later.  There were multiple vehicles, two small storage structures and fence lost in the fire.  Crews were able to stop the fire approximately 5 feet from the backside of one house.  Due to high temperatures a rehab unit was used to help keep the firefighters hydrated and cooled down.  The fire is still under investigation to determine the cause of the fire.”
