The following is a news release from Lubbock Habitat for Humanity:

A $10,000 grant from State Farm Insurance will be presented at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 21 to Lubbock Habitat for Humanity (LHFH).  The presentation will take place at the Habitat office located at 2910 Avenue N.  The grant will be used to purchased first time homebuyer class workbooks and a laptop, projector and sound system for homebuyer workshops and classes.

“Habitat appreciates the support of State Farm Insurance.  The homebuyer workshops and classes are important because they provide information and tools to help the prospective homebuyers become successful homeowners,” stated Marie Hanza, Executive Director for Habitat.  ” Also, the workshops and classes are important in helping prospective Habitat homebuyers make the transition from the mindset of being a renter to first-time homeownership.    LHFH holds the classes throughout the month, with one class each month dedicated to the prospective homebuyer working on the budget and household finances.  Other classes  deal with insurance, home maintenance, grocery shopping and meal prep, etc. The goal is to help prepare individuals to be successful homeowners,” concluded Hanza.

On hand for the check presentation will be local and regional State Farm Insurance representatives and Habitat officials.
