Students at Lubbock High School walked out of class starting around 10:00 a.m. Friday as a protest against gun violence.

According to news accounts, students nationwide were planning to participate on Friday, which is the anniversary of the deadly school shooting at Columbine High School.

A social media post on Thursday said, “Walk out of class, grab your signs, and meet … at 10 am.”

“We’ll stand in silence honoring those lost to gun violence and advocating for common sense gun laws. Please be respectful,” the posting also said.  “Teachers and parents are invited to stand behind us as a show of support. Students will receive an unexcused absence for missing 3rd period.”
