The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees announced new principal assignments for five campuses this morning that will begin in the 2018-2019 school year.

Kris Ann Blodgett is the new principal of O.L Slaton Middle School. Blodgett has been an assistant principal since 2015, including O.L. Slaton for the past two years. She previously served as principal intern, math instructional coach and math teacher in Lubbock ISD. She earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Wayland Baptist University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Texas Tech University. Blodgett has been an educator for 11 years.

Kim Callison was named as the new principal for Hardwick Elementary School. She has been the principal at Bowie Elementary School since 2016. Callison earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Southwest Texas State University, a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wayland Baptist University. She began her career in education in 1994 and was the district coordinator for English/Language Arts from 2004 to 2016.

Gabe Gillespie will serve as the new principal at Dunbar College Preparatory Academy. Gillespie has been an assistant principal since 2014, most recently at Dunbar since 2016. He began his career in education with Lubbock ISD as a special education teacher in 2009. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Faulkner University, master’s degrees in special education and educational leadership from Lubbock Christian University and is currently working on a doctorate in education at Texas Tech University.

Brandi McKinney is the new principal of Bayless Elementary School. She has been a grant instructional administrator at Bayless since 2016, which includes assistant principal responsibilities. She earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Phoenix. McKinney has been an educator for 11 years, including roles as a classroom teacher and instructional coach.

Ofelia Mendez was named as the new principal for Bowie Elementary School. She has been the principal at Guadalupe Elementary School since 2010 and has previously served as an assistant principal, classroom teacher and paraprofessional. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in bilingual education and curriculum design from Texas Tech University, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lubbock Christian University.
