Lubbock Man Arrested Accused of Setting Someone’s House on Fire

The Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office on Tuesday morning announced the arrest of Michael Tyler Thompson, 23, of Lubbock.  Thompson was charged with first degree felony arson.

He was accused of setting a fire at a home Sunday afternoon in the 4900 block of 62nd Street.  Firefighters said there were flames coming from the roof of the home.  No one was home at the time but there was a dog inside.  The dog was rescued and unharmed.

Lubbock Fire Rescue released a video on Monday and asked for the public’s help to identify and find Thompson.

On Monday, LFR said, “The video from the homeowner’s security camera shows the suspect walking towards the area where the fire was started and then fleeing the scene on foot after setting the fire.”

Thompson’s bond was set at $25,000.
