A federal magistrate on Friday accepted a guilty plea from Jonathan Wayne Abare, Jr., 20, of Lubbock who admitted to attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
In October of 2016 an officer with the Texas Department of Public Safety posed on the Internet as a 14-year-old girl named Sophia.
In an online conversation, Sophia told Abare, “Hey, I’m 14 almost 15 white and skinny.”
Court records said Abare told Sophia via the Internet, “Do you want me to lick your ***** and have sex for hours?”
Court records said Abare also sent Sophia an inappropriate sexual image. Officers then confronted Abare and he admitted he believed Sophia was a 14-year-old girl.
A federal judge will sentence Abare at a later date to no more than 10 years in prison.
