Anthony Chevy Losoya, 33, of Lubbock was sentenced on Thursday to 50 years in prison for assault/domestic violence. A jury convicted him on Wednesday.
He was accused of strangling his mother in Lubbock during an argument in January of 2016. The same indictment that accused him of violence against his mother also accused him of “grabbing or striking” his sister.
During the trial, images of his mother’s injuries did not appear to be serious. However, Losoya had a long list of other criminal charges against him including a previous conviction for retaliation. Court records said he also had a previous conviction for assault that would also be classified as domestic violence.
And, he was separately indicted for an allegation of strangling another woman in January of 2015 in Shallowater.
Losoya was arrested by Lubbock Police in January of 2016 and has been held in the Lubbock County Detention Center since that time.
