The trial of Aaron Michael Tucker was cut short this week when a witness changed her story. Tucker was indicted in 2017 with sexual assault of a child. By the time the trial started, the victim was an adult.
The judge stopped the trial and warned the young woman that she needed to get an attorney because she could be subject to perjury charges.
Prosecutors offered Tucker the chance to plead guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon concerning a completely different case. He accepted the deal and will be sentenced on May 1. The terms of the deal include a 4-year sentence for aggravated assault.
According to his defense attorney, the sexual assault case will be dropped after his sentencing on the aggravated assault case.
According to court records Tucker threatened two people with a firearm on May 7, 2017. The two were family members of the same girl he was accused of sexually assaulting.
The defense attorney said the sexual assault allegations were false from the very beginning.
