Lubbock native Madisyn Cox won the bronze medal Monday in the 200-meter individual medley in the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Cox’s time was 2:09.71 according to ABC News’ website. She edged out fellow American Melanie Margolis to win a medal.
She has a reputation for coming from behind and Monday was no exception. According to swimswam.com, Cox “came out of nowhere” to win the bronze.
“[Cox], the former Longhorn from Lubbock claimed the first long-course World Championships medal for a UT women’s swimmer since 2013, when Karlee Bispo helped Team USA win gold in the 4×200 freestyle,” hookem.com said.
Cox graduated from Lubbock High in 2013.
