Courtney White, 47, has been arrested and charged with a second degree felony of ‘attack by dog’ in connection to the February 27th fatal dog attack on 88-year-old Johnnie Garner.
On the evening of February 27th, Lubbock police officers and Lubbock Animal Services, LAS, responded to the 1800 block of East Colgate Street for reports of a serious dog attack. Garner was found lying in her back yard with life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital where she later died.
White, the owner of the six dogs involved in the attack, surrendered the dogs to LAS where they were euthanized.
The Metro Special Crimes Unit began an investigation into the deadly attack. On Friday, March 8th, investigators presented the case to the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office and an arrest warrant was issued for White.
A few hours later, White was arrested by LPD Crime Suppression Unit investigators. He is now being booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on the ‘attack by dog’ charge.
