Lubbock Police were called to the report of a kidnapping just after 9:30 Monday morning in the 4900 block of 115th Street.  However, there was no kidnapping.  

Police were able to confirm that the residents were not home at the time.  Police found no evidence that anyone had been kidnapped. 

The owner of the home said he had been the target of IRS scam calls.  He believed that was the source of the fake kidnapping report. The homeowner did not want to on camera for a news report.

LPD Officers respond to false report of Kidnapping

(LUBBOCK, TX) – Officers with the Lubbock Police Department were called to the 4900 block of 115th street, at 9:34 a.m. on Monday, October 30th in response to reports of a kidnapping.
 
Officers, including K-9 handlers responded to the scene immediately to investigate.

Through investigation, officers were able to determine this was a false report called in by IRS scammers and that the allegation of kidnapping holds no merit and that this was a false report of kidnapping.
