Lubbock Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left one person injured with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Officers were called to 1707 Texas Avenue, just after 2:00 a.m. for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 28-year-old Dameon Pakus, lying on the ground in front of Eleve Hooka Lounge, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

EMS was called to the scene and an ambulance transported Pakus to UMC with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, officers determined the suspect and the victim got into an altercation earlier in the evening. The suspect then left, before returning and waiting for the victim to leave the business. Once the victim left the business, the suspect then confronted the victim, who punched the suspect. At that point, the suspect then shot the victim and fled the scene.

Officers were not able to locate the suspect.

An investigation is underway.
