Lubbock Police were called to a robbery which then became an “officer-involved shooting.”
Officers surrounded a game room at 39th Street and Avenue A at around 1:45 a.m.
Assistant Police Chief Jon Caspell said in a tweet Monday morning that one officer sustained minor injuries, but the other responding officers are “OK.”
He went on to say, “No update on the suspect yet.”
Later, police made a statement (see Facebook video embedded below). LPD identified a suspect who was shot as Isaac Jackson (also known as Isaac Knighten), 20. He was last known to be in critical condition at University Medical Center.
No officers suffered injuries from gunshots.
Lubbock Police issued the following update Monday morning:
On Monday, August 13th, at approximately 1:40 a.m., the Lubbock Police Department received a 911 call of a robbery at the Coyote Moon Game room located at 39th Street and Avenue A.
In less than a minute of being dispatched, officers arrived on scene and came into contact with one of the suspects holding a gun. During the incident, the suspect pointed the gun at officers.
Officers fired multiple shots and the suspect was struck. The suspect was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. The second suspect was not located.
The Lubbock Police Department will hold a press conference to release additional details later this morning.
