The following is a news release from the Lubbock Police Department:

Lubbock Police Officers were called to the South Plains Mall at 5:57 p.m., on Sunday, December 31st, following reports of shots fired.

The first police officer was on scene in three minutes, at 6:00 p.m.

Upon arrival officers worked to secure the scene.

At this time, Lubbock Police have not located any victims from the shooting.

Through investigation, officers were able to determine that the incident stemmed from an altercation between a group of people that began inside the store Footaction. At this time, it appears the fight then spilled out into the mall, when a suspect pulled out a gun and began firing the weapon.

While no one has been taken into custody at this time, we would like to reiterate that this appears to be an isolated incident and that no injuries have been reported.

If anyone has any information about the shooting, they are asked to call the Lubbock Police Department.
