At approximately 6:45 p.m. Friday night, officers responded to the 5600 block of 44th Street in reference to an individual who was robbed.
Officers were advised that a 51-year-old male was riding a bike when 5 suspects ran after him, pushed him off the bike, and then stole the bike.
EMS also responded and treated the victim on scene, however he was not transported to the hospital.
Multiple officers began searching the area for the suspects. A short time later officers located a possible suspect and the stolen bike at a park off of 50th Street and Chicago Avenue. After briefly speaking with the male suspect, he ran from officers.
Officers chased the suspect on foot through the park, but they lost sight of him in a north alley off of 50th Street. Officers set up a perimeter and continued searching for the suspect. The DPS helicopter also assisted with the search, however he was not located.
The stolen bike was returned to the victim.
The suspect who ran from police is a black male in his mid to early 20’s, weighing about 130 pounds and about 5’07”.
This case remains under investigation.
