The following is a news release from the Lubbock Public Library:

Lubbock Public Library kicked off their annual Summer Reading Program last week. Registration for “Libraries Rock”, the free 2018 Summer Reading Program, is open to everyone from birth to adult.

Registration must be completed in person.

For grades 5 and under, children will need to read and submit a tracking log by August 1, 2018. Children will receive a prize bag while supplies last. Each tracking log submitted will be entered into a prize drawing August 2, 2018.

For grades 6-12, teens will need to complete four game cards. Each game card has a specific due date on it and, once completed and turned in, teens will receive tickets to Extravaganzas held throughout the summer. The first Extravaganza is scheduled for June 12, 2018.

Adults are able to join the fun also! For each book, graphic novel, or audiobook read at the adult or young adult level, adults may submit one entry form for the prize drawing. All adult entries are due by July 21, 2018.

The library will host lots of free events and programs throughout the summer. The grades 5 and under End of Summer Celebration will be held August 2, 2018 at Mahon Library (1306 9th Street) at 10am. Pick up a schedule of events at any of the library’s locations or access it on the library’s website www.lubbocklibrary.com.
