The following is a news release from Visit Lubbock and Lubbock Sports:

Lubbock Sports is pleased to welcome more than 280 gymnasts from across Texas for the Level 5 State All-Around Gymnastics Meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Rock Solid Athletics, 6205 43rd St. #300.

Al Gamboa and Jennifer Porter, co-owners at Rock Solid Athletics, with the support of Lubbock Sports won the first bid for the “Hub City” to host the artistic gymnastics state competition. From 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., female gymnasts from 55 gyms throughout Texas will compete at Level 5 on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise competitions, under USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics level 5.

“We are celebrating the most outstanding young gymnasts in Texas at this level as they compete in front of nine highly ranked gymnastics judges,” said Dr. Craig Barker, co-owner of Rock Solid Athletics. “We hope this is the first of many advanced events to come to our new facility that was designed to offer athletes, as well as spectators, the very best.”

Event and all-around winners will be announced for four divisions that are grouped by age, from ages 8 to 15.

Along with the 280 athletes, Lubbock Sports anticipates coaches, parents and other spectators, will attend the meet. The event is expected to bring in 750 room nights with an estimated economic impact of $240,000 for the local economy.

The meet is open to the public. Tickets cost $15 each, with $7 tickets available for children and seniors. For more information about the meet, visit www.rsa-gym.com or email barker@rsa-gym.com.
