Lubbock teenager gets prison time for robbery

Jaylon Sapp, 19, of Lubbock was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday morning for aggravated robbery.  Sapp had been charged with multiple robberies.

In the case that went to court Wednesday morning, Sapp pleaded guilty back in late June. Police were called to the Motel 6 to meet with a robbery victim on July 13, 2017.  The robbery happened at another location, 6500 Avenue L, according to a police report.

The victim was approached by men in a car who pointed a shotgun at him and demanded his wallet. There were no injuries reported. The victim gave up his wallet and ran away.

Sapp was arrested four days later and has been in the Lubbock County Detention Center since that time.

Sapp had already made the news earlier that year.  He was arrested after leading officers in a chase while riding a stolen horse. He was out on bond for that incident at the time of the July 2017 robbery.
