The following is a news release from Mackenzie Masonic Lodge #1327:
On Saturday, April 14th, 2018, Mackenzie Masonic Lodge of Lubbock will host a Scholarship and Community Builder Award Program. The event will begin at 2 p.m. in the great hall of the Scottish Rite Building, located at 1101 70th Street. There is no charge to attend, and the event is open to the public and the media. Light refreshments will be served.
This year’s event will feature the Honorable Mackey Hancock, who retired from the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo in December of 2016. Justice Hancock served as judge in County Court at Law #2 from 1984 to 1986, County Court at Law #3 from 1989 to 1994, 99th District Court from 1994 until 2005, and the Seventh Court of Appeals from 2005 until his retirement.
Mackenzie Masonic Lodge will award six $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors in recognition of their academic and social achievements.
Also, the 2018 Community Builder Award for Mackenzie Masonic Lodge will be presented to Texas Department of Transportation Lubbock District Engineer Steven P. Warren. The Community Builder Award may be given annually by each lodge to recognize outstanding non-Masons who have distinguished themselves through their service to the community, and followed the same precepts, ideals, and standards that have been established for Masonic behavior.
Mackenzie Masonic Lodge #1327 was established in Lubbock in 1950, and is part of the Grand Lodge of Texas. Mackenzie Masonic Lodge meets for dinner at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Scottish Rite Building, located at 1101 70th Street.
